ON LIFE: My Master Cleanse

liveIt’s officially 2013 and, though I know I say this every year, but this year will be MY year. I’m sure of it. Even more than I was the past 20 years I’ve declared the new year to be the year.

In 2013, I’ve decided to skip the resolutions and focus on changing my lifestyle. I suppose this has been something in the making for a while. Within the past 365 days I’ve gone from “I-live-in-a-different-state-than-my-parents-and-I’m-not-in-college-so-let’s-drink!” adulthood to “I-prefer-quieter-nights-and-earlier-mornings-and-I-refuse-to-spend-excessively-because-I’m-saving-for-my-future!” adulthood. It’s a weird and welcome adjustment.

So, I have decided to declare 2013 the year of My Master Cleanse.

I’m not talking about the diet, I’m talking about a full circle body, mind, and soul cleanse that starts as low as the kitchen floor and reaches as far as my dreams.

What does it entail?

I’m back in the gym. I’m getting fitter for me (and for my trip to Puerto Rico in July).

I’m eating well. I spent the end of 2012 exhausted, likely because my diet was horrendous. I’m taking a page out of my blog-crush’s book and going all StyleActivist on you. It’s delicious.

I’m clearing my mind. I’m doing my best to go into every situation with a smile, to push the naysayers and gossiping away, and to float above the negativity because life’s just too damn short.

I’m cleaning my home. I’m participating in ApartmentTherapy‘s January Cure. Mom said it’s because I “finally care about where I live” which I realize is an adult thing because kids are gross.

I’m outlining my goals. And taking baby steps to make them achievable. It’s exciting, and scary, and that’s what makes it real.

I’m trusting in the universe. I’m following my heart to make decisions and hoping for the best because your best is all you can do.

What about you? What are you working on in 2013?

Hi Rommie. I was really concerned you were talking about THE Diet and I was going to feel really bad about myself. Your cleanse sounds great and if you could help me figure out my goals that would be super. Also, I have almost all of the ingredients for the pancakes you linked too and I think we should eat pancakes.

LOVE this post. I’m totally on this train for 2013, too. Feels so dang good to be at the gym, eating right, and cleansing in general. Also, purging all the excess “junk” I own is on my to-do list for this year. It feels amazing to get rid of things that just take up space.
